International trailer for First Man blasts off with new footage, ramps up the family drama
Presented by: Josh Weiss
Not content to only focus on the moon landing mission itself, the film will also explore the toll that it took on Armstrong's home life and the trailer really highlights that. His wife Janet (Claire Foy) becomes increasingly concerned about the dangers involved with sending a man to the moon, and begins to wonder if she'll ever see her husband again once he launches from Cape Canaveral.
On the other hand, you've got all these technical advacements, mentioned by Deke Slayton (Kyle Chandler). NASA was doing something so unprecedented, that they had to "start from scratch." In other words, First Man is about human perseverance, resilience, and plain old stubborness.
It ends on the historic countdown from 10 and the lunar modules approach to the Sea of Tranquility.

Based on James Hansen's book of the same name, the film includes a humdinger of a supporting cast: Corey Stoll (Buzz Aldrin), Jason Clarke (Edward Higgins White), Lukas Haas (Mike Collins), Ciarán Hinds (Gene Kranz), Shea Whigham (Gus Grissom), and Pablo Schreiber (Jim Lovell).
First Man lands in theaters on Friday, Oct. 12. After premiering at the Venice Film Festival, it has already been billed as a serious contender for the upcoming awards season. However, it has also been the subject of controversy for omitting the moment when Armstrong and Aldrin erected the American flag on the moon's surface.
