Kevin Feige touts Nova's "immediate potential" as a Marvel Film

In 2014, Marvel’s Nova Corps made their debut in Guardians of the Galaxy as an interstellar police force. It wasn’t the Nova fans may have been hoping to see, but the success of that franchise may lead the human rocket to headline his own Marvel movie.
Via ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was asked about Nova’s potential for a future solo film during the press junket for Avengers: Infinity War. Feige’s response indicated that Nova is definitely under consideration for a larger role in the MCU.
“Nova is… if we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board. Because of the connection to the Guardians universe, because there are more than one examples to pull from in the comics that are interesting. And you’re absolutely right, he was in the earliest drafts of the [Guardians of the Galaxy].”
Feige didn’t offer any additional details regarding Nova, nor did he say which Nova would potentially star in their own adventure. The first Nova, Richard Rider, was created by Marv Wolfman and artist John Buscema in 1976. Rider was chosen by a fatally injured Rhomann Dey (John C. Reilly’s character in Guardians of the Galaxy), and he gave the Nova Centurion costume and powers to Rider before he passed away.
In 2011, Jeph Loeb and artist Ed McGuinness introduced Sam Alexander, a teenager who discovered that his missing father had been a member of the Nova Corps. Alexander took his father’s outfit and became the next Nova while fighting alongside the Avengers and other Marvel heroes.
Either Nova could work as the leading characters of their own film. But the most recent Nova relaunch may have already hit upon the ideal solution by using both Rider and Alexander. That series gave the two Novas a surrogate brother dynamic as Rider mentored his younger counterpart. Doing that would also ensure that fans of both characters would be satisfied.
Marvel has been unusually quiet about its Phase 4 films, so it may be awhile before we see if Nova made the cut. But the future is looking bright for that character.
